Golden boy Gareth Potts was on top of the world after claiming a record breaking third Foster’s World 8-Ball Pool Championship title.
After defeating his England Team mate veteran Jason Twist 11-4 to lift the trophy for a third time in four years.
In doing so he broke the Curse, becoming the only player in the 17-years of the championship to retain his title.
Jason Twist also suggested that it it is still ealry days in Gareths Career, “I’m sure Gareth is going to win it many more times in the future,” said the ‘Tornado’
But, at 25, time is on his side to establish a record that may never be broken.
“The first one in 2005 is still the most special because of the circumstances of my dad’s death,” he said.
“But they’re all special in their own way. And this is a dream come true.
“I’m sure Jason will be the first to admit he didn’t play like Jason can.
“I was 8-2 up at the interval but couldn’t get too carried away. The job wasn’t done.
“There had been enough comebacks this week to know Jason might start to fire.”
However, there was no great escape on this occasion and Twist had to settle for a £3,000 consolation prize.
Potts banks the winning cheque of £8,000
